Great looking set-up. You're off to a good start.
And yes, you always want to consult with the wife first, otherwise along with your new scanner you'll have a few bumps on the head from the frying pan (or rolling pin). Or at the least, you'll get a good chewing out about how you just blew up the budget (been there, done that LOL)

Yes that is a pioneer VSX-456 i have had it for about 10 years or so...if u buy the best u only got to buy one. thanks for all the post on my TN shack.i never understood why anyone would want to sit and listen to a scanner.well i found my bc60xlt in a dumpster while taking out the trash one day i cleaned it up but some batteries in it hit scan and it worked...that was 2 years ago last year i got a pro164.not a day goes by that i don't turn them on and sit back and enjoy.i haven't found a better hobby and i am sure i never will !!!

just asking always nice to have fm/am scanning down also. lol looks like a nice stereo. you could always hook it up to an outside antenna and try to hear distant am stations like others here do.
