Greetings All.
I Am looking at the contents of new Yaesu FTD5 box and trying to determine what two of the enclosed parts are used for.
The first is a piece of black plastic about 1" wide by 2" long, with two vertical posts in the center. The tips of the post are painted silver.
The bottom is flat, and would appear to be some sort of support for something.
There is no mention of this device in the manual, or in any of the Yaesu options.
It does not appear to fit anything associated with the radio or attachments.
Any ideas on what this is for?
The other enclosed part is a standard USB cable.
Although it fits the connection on the radio, communication through this cable/port does not appear to be possible.
When the radio is connected through this radio on my Linux machine,
it shows up as a YAESU MUNSUN FT-1D connection, but no USB, Serial or ACM port is created.
I spent 1/2 a day installing Windows 10 to see if Yaseu's ADMS software would function.
Windows is unable to find a driver for the connection, and the ADMS software times out attempting to connect.
Based on the radio's advanced documentation it would appear that a DIFFERENT cable is needed (SCU-55, SCU-19 or CT-169).
What is this cable used for?
Thanx,
Richard Rosa
