172.375 unable to ID, It had a tone but I didn't see it in time.

I should add that everything I have posted so far has been simplex except for 866.0125.

Testing a repeater on 168.100 Command-1 unknown tone & input.
It is weak in town and may be out west in the fire area.
Also heard 168.200 simplex referred to as Tac-1.
These are NIFC frequencies but the channel names I heard conflict with what was reported in the past in other areas.

Now it is full scale. They either have two repeaters or were testing it on a low antenna or something.

168.1000 R should be 170.4500 input. NIFC CMD-2 Repeater

168.2000 is NIFC TAC-2, TAC-1 should be 168.0500

In 2009 172.3750 was assigned for Colorado as an Air to Ground channel, it might still be one, and in-use by some Mutual Aid Aircraft.

It would be interesting to trace back, any Tail #'s if anyone is running/logging MODE 'S' traffic

Thanks for the information. I have loaded the frequencies for TFS, but I cannot find the National Forest Service among the Federal Frequencies for McClennan County or statewide.

They quit using both TFS air-to-ground frequencies and moved to federal ones.
166.9375 CSQ air-to-ground 1
168.0125 CSQ air-to-ground 2 (added today)

Ground units heard on 168.050 (another NIFC channel) and 173.625 (government-wide)

I loaded the TFS frequencies & heard nothing. I doubt it would do much good to load the Federal frequencies into the radio since I am so far away from the fires.

This may possibly be an airborne repeater flown by the Civil Air Patrol. That might explain why the signal strength keeps changing and the presence and absence of PL tone.

CAP has been using CC1 141.575 PL 127.3

I was down in the Strawn area Saturday. One of the fires in the 'PK Complex' burned the rear portion of my friends' place in the southeast portion of Stephens County. But the main portion was still intact, as was their neighbor's. There were still some hot spots burning down in the thickest portions of the draws farther back off the road, where you can't get a dozer in. Hopefully, some of the rain Saturday night, & last night (radar estimate was up to 2.5 inches) will help.

Took a quick picture of the DPS mobile command center parked across the street from the Strawn Fire Dept., when we went to grab a bite to eat.

171.625 CSQ heard in Mineral Wells today. I haven't been able to ID it yet. Might be the air tanker base here.

No other new frequencies for the Palo Pinto County fires this week. Plenty of old ones used.
