I'm down in Fernandina Beach for the day so I've been listening to the Nassau County TRS. I've heard 4 talkgroups that I don't see listed here on RadioReference so far:

1009 - Seems to be FD type comms, maybe a Nassau Fire/Rescue admin channel
1106 - Encrypted, Nassau SO?
1110 - Encrypted, Nassau SO?
1200 - Encrypted

Mac,

I believe you may be right about the TG 1009, it probably is a talkgroup for Nassau County Fire because their channels seem to go up in order starting at 1001 for A-1/dispatch. Not sure if it's used for their admin/ chiefs though, I am an avid listener to this system too and i've often wondered if there are anymore TG's being used on this system than what is already known. the 1100 numbered TG's are the SO talkgroups, but it could also be fernandina beach PD too because I believe they share the SO TG's w/ Fernandina Beach PD. But I cant confirm this being that their encrypted. I'm not sure about TG 1200 though, have no idea what that could be. Have you manged to find any more unknown TG's?, I've been trying to figure out whether or not the Nassau County Ocean Rescue shares TG 1401 w/ the Fernandina Beach Ocean Rescue or if they have a separate one, would you happen to know anything about that?. I believe they do share it but i'm not 100% sure seeing as how, mostly the Fernandina Beach guards do most of the talking on that particular channel, guess i'll have to wait till summer to find out. Let me know if you find any more new talkgroups, and i'll try and see if i can confirm that 1009 is indeed used by Nassau County Fire Rescue. Thanks.

I really can't help out much more. I don't make it down to Fernandina Beach very often but I do go down to the Kingsland/St. Mary's area occasionally. If I hear anything further on future trips I'll post it.

Oh man, that sucks. Well I can tell you I recieve Nassau County's TRS pretty well in the Kingsland/St.Marys area very well. In fact I live in St.Marys and it comes in really well @ my place. But reception of the system is really superb @ the St.Marys Waterfront, almost as if you were in Nassau County all along and not Camden. But yeah next time your in the area or down in Fernandina, try and see what you can find and let me know or like you said make a post about it so i can see it. I have a Radioshack Pro-106 Scanner and I'm not sure how to make it show me what the TG's are that are being transmitted are when I look @ the system freq's in analyze mode, it will tell me the control channel info but no TG's unless its a conventional TRS, so I have no way of stumbling on new TG information unfortunately. Well thanks for trying to help anyways Mac, I'll let you know if I find anything out on this end.

Ron,

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to pick up Nassau from Jacksonville, I live in Camden County which is the County above Nassau in Georgia and I recieve their signal pretty well. If you have a digital scanner put in their control channel 857.4875 and then plug in the Talkgroups and see what you can get. I'd at least put in A-1 / Alpha 1 TG 1001 which is the dispatch channel and see what you can get before you program in the rest of the TG's. Now would be a good time to test it out to see, because theres a few incidents going on right now. you can also put in their old VHF dispatch frequency, they still simulcast traffic from A-1 on this freq. which is 155.925 MHz and they also simulcast A-1 on the old Nassau County SO VHF freq. too, which is 155.130 MHz.

Well Jax is a big place. I work at Baymeadows and I-95 and was never able to pickup Nassau P25 with my 396xt.

I just got a Pro-106 and brought it to work Friday but I honestly don't remember if I turned on the scan list programmed with Nassau. Maybe it'll do better... if anything, maybe pick up CC info. I really like the ease of seeing that on the 106 display.

It should do better, I know I've been pretty impressed w/ the reception I have out of my mine, I can pick up Jacksonville and Nassau County no problem from where I'm at. I got mine about a year or maybe two years ago for christmas, so I could listen to JFRD, Nassau County, Kings Bay, and Glynn County. I don't think yours would have Nassau's system already pre- programmed, or maybe the newer ones might like yours. I had to go in and program Nassau, Kings Bay, and Glynn County myself. However Jacksonville was already pre-programmed in it, and all I had to do was a little editing on that and I had it solely set up to monitor JFRD on the Jacksonville scan list.

I have my own programming in the radio, incl. Nassau. Took a few days to move everything from Freescan to Win500 just right but its all in there.

The problem is that I'm on break/lunch when monitoring so I'm in my car and literally am 15 feet away from 3 huge radio towers. I think this will affect my receive.

Oh okay, gotcha. Well your alot more lucky than I am, I had to do it all by hand. Nice, well you would thing maybe being close to a tower would help and kind of act as a extra "ping" point and help it come in possibly. But yeah give it a try and see what you can get, I guess I'm picking up on the fernandina and yulee simulcast sites for the system, but either way the reception is great here in St.Marys which is on the south end of Camden County.

I am unable to hear Nassau County from my area in Jacksonville. Have been scanning Nassau for the last couple of weeks and can not hear anything. The only time I hear Nassau, is when they are responding to Shands hospital in Jacksonville.

That sucks, well maybe you might get lucky one day and the atmosphere will be right and it will come in clear. I also found a new TG on their system a couple of weeks ago, TG 1402 came up on there it sounded like public works/ road dept. comms for either the county or fernandina beach. haven't heard anything more on it lately. Haven't heard anything to report, on the TG you mentioned (TG 1009) , I believe that TG may be used by my county's fire rescue (Camden County) as a administrative channel. Because I have heard our chiefs tell one another go to A-8, A-9, or A-10 before. I say this because the Camden County chiefs have a 800MHz radio in their chevy tahoe's, which are programmed to Nassau County's system and I believe neighboring Glynn County's (GA) system to the north possibly but I don't think so. And just a month ago, I heard one of the chief's tell the battalion chief to "go to A-10 on your 800MHz radio". So thinking back on that, that might have been what you heard on TG 1009, was two of the Camden County Chiefs talking, because they are the only chief's in camden w/ 800MHz radios. All other camden county apparatus be it, Camden County, St.Marys, or Kingsland FD's trucks, only have VHF radios in them. And about the 1200 TG sets, I believe thats Fernandina Beach PD's channels I see those pop up frequently too. and the 1100 set is Nassau County SO channels

I also figured out how to find talkgroup's w/ my 106 too, looks like I'll be able to find the answer to my question about the life guard comms after all. to find TG's all you have to do is put a new TG on a certain system, but you have to keep it in wildcard mode for it to search for active TG's.

Just confirmed as of today, that just as I suspected, that talkgroup 1009 on the Nassau County TRS is indeed used by the Camden County (GA) Fire Rescue Administration/Chiefs. Seems like they use this
for private comms just between the chiefs themselves, not used very often but they do use it from time to time. Not sure if it is the same channel on the Nassau County radios, but according to what I hear from the Camden chiefs on the VHF radio. Talkgroup 1009 is A-10 / Alpha 10.

I was commenting earlier in this thread how I've never been able to hear Nassau's TRS even from my Job in Jax.

Well, tonight I'm picking it up seemingly without problem....from where I live!? ....in St. Johns Co ...exit 323 off I-95. wth?

I guess it's a good night for listening, atmospheric-wise. Most have been encrypted TG's but I heard Fire Disp at least once. I don't really know how busy the traffic is on that system.

Awesome sounds like you caught it on a good night, when the atmosphere was right. Yeah all Law Enforcement is encrypted full-time on the system as stated before, both Fernandina Beach PD and Nassau County SO. Everything else, including Fire/Rescue, Beach Lifeguards, Public Works, and any other unknown TG's are in the clear and are unencrypted.

It's not that uncommon for that to happen, like I said before I live in Camden County, GA. Which is above Nassau County, on some good nights I can pick up St.Johns County VHF freqs from up here
