Tone alarm: The National Weather Service will send a 1050 Hz tone alarm before most warning and many watch messages are broadcast. The tone will activate all the receivers which are equipped to receive it, even if the audio is turned off. This is especially useful for warnings which occur during the night when most people are asleep.

Couldn't I set this up in mt BR330T toneouts ???? Anybody ever tried it ?

Guess it would be the same as having ALL FIPS on right?

No.
Sort of.

You scanner already has a dedicated 1050Hz NWS alert function, so no need to replicate it.

Do they still use this tone, now that SAME has been implemented?

Yeah, it's what triggers some SAME devices to switch to the audio after it sounds whatever alert tone it generates.

Many "industrial" units are non-SAME and have been on the job for a LONG time... No need to replace when the tried-and-true works.
