Where did you see that? I see that the autopatch is closed, but nothing that mentioned that the repeater itself is closed. The PL is listed as 91.5.

Autopatch is not working right now, and the is on CSQ at the moment and set to switch to 94.8 down the road.

So far with the new repeater we are working a good chunk of Buncombe, all of Haywood, and most of Jackson and Macon as well as a good bit of east TN

Does anyone think that maybe sometime down the road the FCC would ever open up any of the 800mhz for Amateur use? Wouldn't it be cool if hams had an 800mhz system, you could have traffic training on one TG, nets on another, ragchews on yet another talkgroup, and so on. I think the only thing negative would be the ridiculous cost of the equipment.In addition, now that most everything is going to Viper & 800mhz what will become of VHF low, VHF high, and the UHF ranges? Other than Amateur stuff in a few more years these bands will be virtual ghost bands...uninhabited........

No they won't, not everyone will go to 800, hams have no reason for 800, we already have 900 as well as tons of other spectrum. How many local police operate at 223? Well we can


As far as trunking, there was a discussion on this as well as other forums. I think LTR could be used, but a regular moto system would be a no-no because of the control channel.

Actually heard traffic on 224 for the first time ever recently.

You must not spend alot of time in the Triangle as 440 is very much
alive and well in Central NC.

Plus there is a huge linked 440 system in Charlotte that covers from Haywood county to east of Greensboro/Winston-Salam and extends north into Virginia. There is a statewide inked 440 system in SC also. You apparently don't listen much then.
