I have a police scanner that I bought about 5 years ago. I live in the Jefffersontown area of Louisville and like to listen to the Jeffersontown Police. I have noticed that I can no longer listen to them anymore. I know that they used to be on the 460.300 frequency but they are not on any longer. Can you guys tell me what type of scanner that I can get to listen to Jeffersontown Police since they have moved over to the MetroSafe systems. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the help. I am pretty "green" when it comes to scanners. I like to just turn it on and listen the the police in my area. In my case would be the Jeffersontown Police. Since they went over the MetroSafe system I have learned that metrosafe is 9600 baud system and I need something that will pick them up. I would like something handheld that is easy to use for a newbie and for as cheap as possible. Let me know what you guys think......

Unfortunately when you get into digital systems the two things you're looking for easy to use and inexpensive are mutually exclusive in most cases. If you want something easy to use like the PSR-800 or the HomePatrol you're going to be spending about $500. The least expensive radio capable of receiving digital systems (like MetroSafe) it's going to now be the radio shack one I mentioned above. Unfortunately it's a little more difficult to program although you can spend a little money and get a software package that makes it relatively painless.
