Can someone help with Sentinel and BCD-536.

I’ve owned this scanner for 3 years but have not used it for at least 2 years. It’s surprising how much you forget!

Everything is working fine but I’m scratching my head as to why I have so many more Favorites Lists on the computer within Sentinel software than I do on the SD card in the scanner.

I’d like to copy everything over to the SD card on the scanner so I have it in both places but getting confused by the prompts to “erase” favorite’s lists and copy full database, etc. I just don’t remember what these “erase” and copy full database prompts are really for.

Before I start overwriting or erasing anything can anyone give me a quick overview as to how I can get all the favorites list from Sentinel to the scanner’s SD card so I have the same info on both?

Thanks

In the profile editor, make sure all of the service types used by the favorites lists are enabled. For all of the favorites lists, set both Download and Monitor to On. When you write to the scanner, check the box to erase favorites lists in scanner. The scanner will then have the same favorites lists as in Sentinel.

If I had not checked the box to erase favorites list in the scanner, what would have happened.

I'm thinking it would have added the new lists but for those lists already on the scanner, it would not have made any changes to them?

During the write to scanner process, for each Favorites List that is already in your scanner, Sentinel will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing Favorites List, create a new Favorites List with a different name, or just skip over it. So if you have numerous Favorites Lists, you'll have to answer that question numerous times.

I believe that older versions of Sentinel would just add the Favorites List a second time, adding confusion.

I can't think of the first time I did not Erase all the Favorites Lists on my scanner when doing a write.

Copying the full database is kind of a misnomer. If Sentinel has a more recent version of the database than the scanner, it will write that more recent one to the scanner automatically. The "Force Write Full Database" would write the full database, even if the scanner and Sentinel version dates "agree". Kind of gives you a way of satisfying to yourself that the two versions are the same.
