Hello all,

I'm looking in to upgrading my antennas for scanning purposes and this may sound kind of stupid, but I was thinking as to why with all this talk about re-banding frequencies for scanners, etc... and all of the scare about having a current or new future scanner - that can be re-banded/programed/flashed, etc... how come I'm not seeing any antenna manufacturers or distributors selling any new generation 700mhz center tuned yagis, beams, log periodics, or even a new "Austin Ferret" with center tuned 700mhz elements built-in, etc...??? I would think that with all of this new frequency re-banding hype going on, that I'd start seeing more sales and/or production information about "new generation antennas", specially tuned for the new (especially newly re-banded TRS) re-banded frequencies. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, suggestions or information on this topic? Thanks ahead of time and I'm really looking forward to seeing some feedback on this subject. Thanks!

Hi Grog,

Sorry. I'm probably not conveying myself correctly here. I already knew that re-banding won't change anything, but however, I am interested in seeing more and more new 700mhz frequencies pop-up and that's why I'm asking about new (any and all) type of antennas that will be incorporating or specifically tuned to the 700mhz band. Here's some interesting articles which were great reading and also will probably interpret what I'm trying to say ever better, I'm. sure. Have a nice weekend!

The reason you don't see that many is because not many people want to dedicate a whole antenna/scanner just to 700 systems, when a 700/800 system will work as well and the antenna will be, say, 90% as efficient as a tuned 700 one.

The middle portion of telivision's UHF band in the in the 700 MHz spectrum. Try a good UHF TV antenna, turned 90 degrees so it's elements are vertical.
