Purchased this receiver yesterday (E version) and having problems with programming. Every time I try to write from PC to the receiver, the SW shows an unhandled exception error and writing fails. What is interesting - reading from the radio works fine. After the software failure during write, I have to restart PC, because the radio doesn't connect anymore. Any ideas? Have the latest FW on the receiver and INTEL PC with win11. Thanks.

Is this the error you get? See attached. I have the issue on a Windows 11 Pro PC running Intel. I have to use my laptop, also running Windows 11 Home and Intel, to program my Alinco. Wish I knew what causes it on my desktop PC.

It causes my USB ports to go haywire (devices not recognised) meaning a restart of the PC.

Yes, this is exactly the same as my problem! So you mean that it is PC dependent and I can try another PC? I will try a laptop which I have on my weekend house to see it it works at least on this machine. At home, I have two machines, one is intel NUC 11 Enthusiast which gives this error and the other is generic AMD desktop PC which doesn't install the driver at all :(
I hope the third one will work, it's an old win10 laptop from IBM ThinkPad
What a software we have here !!!

I bought a Surface Go 3 laptop last year strictly to run radio type software, works fine with all my devices. It’s Intel based running Windows 11. It ended my frustration trying to get Parallels on my MacBook Pro to play nice.

Great move. It's important to note this has Intel processor instead of ARM.

I worked with a PC and Mac on my desk for a couple decades. I prefer the PC by far, but there are only a few things that a Mac works well with, unfortunately it was our customers.

Which version of the firmware are you running. Had the same problem with mine before the upgrage.

Cheers

Latest for E version... 4.00-04 ... updated via my friend's laptop. Both FW and SW downloaded from this Alinco page:
I know about issues with AMD chipsets but the Intel NUC is 100% pure intel machine, but gives this weird error.

I can recommend the mini PC in the attached image for updating your Alinco DJX-100.It doesn't break the bank and I got mine for less than £130 UK price.

I’ve only had mine a few days and have really enjoyed it. I’ve been interested in one since I heard about it a couple of years ago, but waited to buy until the firmware and software upgrades were made available for the US version.

I expect there will be further firmware and software updates in the future, albeit slow. HRO has listed spare battery, desk charger, AA battery case, soft case, and spare antenna. I think that’s all the accessories for the radio.

If PC (Windows, see device manager - is there a yellow exclamation mark) fails to recognize USB device (DJ-X100E) one thing maybe worth trying is to use usb serial adapter connected to usb-to-null-modem adapter, connect usb2serial to Alinco and usb-null-modem adapter to PC.

e.g. "USB to serial adapter (Aten UC-232A) + USB serial null modem adapter (S6618, cheap device from eBay)."
