J Just became a new Premium member yesterday and had to shout about my new radios! Found a used but mint 996T in the box with all the goodies at the Salem Ham Swap a few weeks ago and Frida splurged on the BCD436HP. It has been decades since buying a scanner so yeah, I'm used to the channel and band setup, so the new way of dynamic programming and mapping was a tough nut to crack for my pea sized brain. While I was doing ok with manual entry on the 996, the 436 was a struggle. I just could not get the favourite list to cooperate and scan what I wanted . Plenty of "nothing to scan" pop ups and I spent at least 20 hours on the 436, to no avail. Even hand entered the local ham repeaters hoping I could scan those. Nope.
Was at my wits end. I had watched every Youtube video possible, Googled everything, read countless threads here and yes, the manual. Headaches and tiredness just wore me out. So today I took a different approach and thought I'd try different software and VOILA!!! No clue why it suddenly worked but am I so glad! Everything is working well and I'm thrilled at having a few new scanners! I look forward to tons of listening and reading here in the forum!
