Just received 2 gre antennas from gre. They were on sale so why not?? Wow!! What a difference!! they give the radio shack 800 antenna a run for its money!! A big difference on local 800 systems and also performs well on uhf!! I recommend it!!

Care to give us a hint about the antennas (besides GRE)?

Wow, a heck of a deal.

Buy 1 for 13.99, or you can buy their special at a super extra-discount price of $27.98 for two.

Wait...carry the 1, add 6, divide by 3.

I have one. It works about on par with the Radio Shack 800MHz antenna. The advantage of the GRE is that the BNC connector has a swivel built in so you can adjust it to a right angle and use it on the back of a desktop scanner without an additional BNC right angle adapter.

I tend to disagree. It works better on 800 trunking systems. It wasnt the price or bargain for getting two BUT the quality of its performance!! Those of us in this hobby for the long haul could care LESS about a few pennies saved when it comes to adding to a antenna collection to GET the listening results desired!!!!!!!!!

Handheld antennas

I have used the Radio Shack 800mHz antenna for over a year I find that it works great even in the VHF bands with local systems. The gre ht antenna does well in the 800 range but suffers from 400mHz down. I know they were made for 800 in mind but its nice to hear a few other signals. I can say that the Radio Shack antenna does extremely well in the 400mHz range in my area. I like the condor its quite a monster on your ht but it works well from vhf-800mHz. I guess we scanner buffs could care less about what others think about our favorite antenna.

I have that ant on the back of my 898T and it works great. Connects to the back of the radio tight, but moves side to side from being lose. Any way to tighting where the BNC connects to the ant?
