The frequent on sale price is $400, but I don't think you'll see anything lower unless you have an employee discount or a new Radio Shack credit card discount. If it becomes discontinued, then it *could* come up as a lower price, store stock dependent item.
If this happens, look for mass hysteria and blood curdling screams at your local shack. ;)

The PRO-97 is currently on sale at $149.99 ($50.00 off), if you're looking for one now.

With the apparent decision by RS not to carry the new GRE scanners and GRE's decision to sell them independently (well through a network of dealers I should say), I suspect that as 700 MHz band usage increases, more and more knowledgeable RS managers will be complaining. I have already heard that this decision is viewed pretty dimly in the New Orleans, LA area where practically everything is now on the LATIE system and most of that on 700 MHz. Colorado (DTRS) is moving in that direction as is Michigan (MPSCS). It may be too late for RS to get RS Branded GRE radios, but maybe you will still see them in the stores once this blunder comes to light in Fort Worth.

i don't see anything that would keep RS from selling the new GRE scanners. It would just be up to the store manager to decide. heck they even carried the bC396 on line.

The local RS dealers in my area do not get to "Decide" - when I bought my Pro-96 I had to visit several stores before I found one that the Corporate Office allowed to supply scanners. Well.. at least that's the stoty they told me (took me half a day to find one that stocked them).

There is either bad blood between the two companies - or an incredible amount of stupidity on the part of Radio Shack’s new management. This reminds me of the old CB radio days (when they ran the company into the ground).

By the way - where can I find the specs on them? I'm sure here somewhere - but a link would be appreciated.

Edit ---

As usual, I posted and then looked :( Found the references to the specs.
