Rebuilding the monitoring post after moving - long way to go but it's a start...pictures were much bigger but Photobucket made them 800x600.
And I am obviously not too good with a camera.

Set up for the time being in a room which will be remodeled later..
Shown left to right on the cheap Ikea desk - Icom IC-R20, AOR-AR8200, a Sony Vaio UX390N hand held computer used for programming and recording/logging, Uniden BCD996T, Icom IC-R75, Icom Sp-23 speaker, Icom IC-R5, Uniden BCD396T.

On top of the Mac Pro computer is a WINRADIO WR-G305e with the Professional Demodulator, APCO25, Advanced Digital Suite, DRM and Wide FM options.

The WINRADIO software is running on the monitor with the Pro Demodulator, Spectrum Sweep, Advanced ACARS Decoder, Audio Scope and Spectrum Analyzer and Advanced Signal Conditioner windows active.

External antennas are a Diamond D130NJ discone on the roof (LMR400), a Dressler ARA2000HDX active antenna for 50 - 2000 MHz (LMR240) and a Dressler ARA100HDX for 40 kHz - 100 MHz. The active antenna power supplies are on the wall behind the computer.

Adding a BC898T this week for easier searching in VHF/UHF, a Stridsberg multi coupler and hoping to add an Icom IC-R8500 next month.

Nice setup. I love the Jerker Desk from Ikea. It gives you a lot of setup options.

Jerker, monitor..

Thanks for the nice comments!

The Dell 30" monitor is easily the best money I've spent in a long time - way better for me than the three smaller monitors I used before. Now Dell has an even better 30" out but I can't justify two of these monsters with four 21" LCD monitors sitting in the garage.

Yeah the mighty Ikea Jerker desk is cheap and very configurable - my wife says I need to get a 'real adult' desk soon but it is my revenge for her dragging me through Ikea.

Nice. I sold my WinRadio to finance my HF rig - a IC-718.

I think I may be selling mine too soon. It's fun and cool to look at but I just don't need three-billion filter options to listen to VHF aircraft. Haven't used it nearly as much as I thought I would.

Nice shack. You have all the handhelds in there protective cases, good. I want to get into HF listening. The R75 I've been looking at. Or maybe a portable. You need a subwoofer if you want to get the maximum youtube experience.:) What size is that monitor?

Hey, whatever. It's obviously getting you from A to B. Very nice setup.

Any sort of interference from the computer?

And I thought my 19" widescreen was a luxury..one day when college doesn't own my wallet...

KD4KNR: I am using the stands from http://www.scannerstandman.com/ - they are excellent stands and he can make custom stands too.

John M - the monitor is a 30" Dell 3007WFP. Indeed I do need a subwoofer - I didn't have one because we lived in an apt before but definitely getting one now!

wvd1979 - thanks to Ikeas designers!

mpcarlino - the IC-R75 definitely picks up some computer/monitor noise on HF but then I am using an active antenna too which needs to be farther from the house.
I am looking at putting up a dipole like the Van Gorden G5RV soon and grounding the R-75 so maybe this will cut the noise down. If not I will have to move therR75.
I can hear a lot as it is but weaker utility comms are buried in the noise.

Yeah I was real skeptical about anything larger than a 21" monitor especially when they cost so much but glad I did it now. Except now there’s just more open to distract me on the screen so I probably get less done instead of more...

Thanks! Bootcamp for the radio software but I use Parallels too - Winradio software runs fine in the latest Parallels but the audio is choppy.
Parallels is very cool!
