I was down there in June and heard the Orlando P-25 System control channel .I have heard Orlando Police and Fire will use fulltime encryption.I didn't think the County was even being upgraded right now.I have heard they have plans for this regional system, but in June they were still using the the 3600 Smartzone in analog with a little CAI P-25.

well after the storm today the Orange County Comm center was patially shut down, the roof leaked, well no suprise as when i was there the comm personell were complaining about the tin roof (it is metal and it gets loud in there when it rains)

instead of encrypting they might want to replace the roof

They are in testing phase now, i have seen several new Motorola P25 radios from OPD and got to play with a OFD one a while back, XTS5000 i believe, anyway when they encrypt i will shelve my 396 and get another hobby

WS, the county changed out a couple of channels on all sites and the sheriffs office has some special units with digital encryption.

The central florida system is probably off into the future. First they lost some of the managers that were putting this together and now the budget crunch is hitting.
