Just purchased a PRO-96 and notice it at times has extremely low audio volume. When the Volume knob is up to 80-90% it's still hard to hear in a quiet room. Is this a common issue?

Not in my experience. Even when my on/offf/volume control was going out, the issue was not inadequate volume. IMHO the PRO-96 has the best audio output of any handheld scanner I have owned, and I have owned one or two (dozen) over the years.

Are you listening to digital voice without the digital AGC on? This could account for some low volume level, depending on the system. Analog should be plenty loud, though, if your knob is turned up that high. The PRO-96 has pretty decent audio, not as nice as the 2096, but good for a portable. Could be you have a faulty unit.

PRO 96 Low Volume

Thanks for the tips. I am using the internal speaker and even when listening to NOAA weather channel with the volume up all the way it's not much above a comfortable listening level. I will take it back to the store tomorrow and get their comments.
