OK guys I broke down and went and got the Pro97, nice scanner, ive got it all down EXCEPT LTR mode
My question if a system does not have all the freq listed
for ex.
i have the right freqs in channel 1, and 3 in bank 4 but if there is no channel 2 listed in the database and i do not program it will the Pro97 still trunk it??
I ask because im not picking anything up in LTR mode, my scanner is working in all the other modes, MO, and ED
this LTR is really confusing
Please Help
Thank you

Hi,here is some info from the 97 wiki page.
The PRO-97 has a feature that will tell you what the proper channel number for an LTR system is. Program a frequency from the system in the first channel (steps 1-6), set the mode for LTR (step 7), put the scanner in manual, and when you hear a transmission, there will be a number in the lower right corner of the display like "R03" or whatever. This is the LCN (Logical Channel Number) of that frequency. If it is "R03", you would re-program that frequency into channel number x03 of whatever bank you are going to use. Continue the above procedure until you have all the numbers for all the frequencies in the system, keeping in mind that some numbers might be skipped over, example, there may be no channel R02 in your particular system. Note - The LTR repeater number identifer does not work when the repeater ID burst is turned off by the system administrator.

I read that in the Wiki, but that doesnt explain if the system will work, with or with out the LCNs being filled
Like i said if i have ch 1, 3 and 5 will it work if i dont have channles 2 and 4??

yes, it should work. Many Regular LTR systems are set up with LCN's of 1,3,5,7,9,etc.

If you find additional frequencies you can watch them in manual mode and see if the correct LCN is found.

If you do not have all of the frequencies entered for an LTR system, you will miss conversations (or portions of conversations) which take place on that frequency/channel. Does that mean the system is working? Well yes and no. To make it work correctly, all frequencies would need to be entered. But then again if no one ever talks on that frequency, or it is conversations you don't want to hear anyway, how would you know?
