Curious, how often does Icom update their models? They went from the R2 to R5 in about 4 years. Its been 5 years since the R5 came out. Whats the chance that a newer model might be in the wings?

I couldn't resist picking up an R5 Sport after selling an R5 a few years ago. :)

They are a pain in the you-know-what to program, but the "tk5" free software sure helps a lot. If you use Excel to keep your data it's pretty easy to get your frequencies transferred to the R5 with "tk5" by making CSV files.

When mentioning tk5 software, we should also give credit to Bob Parnass, the author of tk5 software, and numerous other contributions to our radio hobby! Thank you Mr. Parnass! :)
