New talkgroups on Fulton TRS

Had a little time to monitor Fulton today and found 2 new PD talkgroups active. I beleive they may be Palmetto, but I have not confirmed that yet. Any help is welcome.

46864 seems to be the Dispatch and 46896 seems to be a TAC channel


Also found a Fire Channel (ID'ed as such by the radio user) on 47536, which may be Fairburn FD TAC or Fire Ground. More monitoring on this channel needed to verify. 47568 is another talkgroup that is associated with talkgroup 47536, so this may be an Admin channel for Fairburn FD.


Many more unidentified talkgroups are active on Fulton's system, so more updates as they are ID'ed.

What will eventually become of the Fulton County TRS, now that the unincorporated sections of the county are being incorporated into individual cities? (Like Sandy Springs, Milton, etc) Will the county continue supporting a system to accomodate all the "breakaway" communities or will individual cities have to build their own systems? From what I read, it's been a big political mess and the future of Fulton County Fire and Police is in question too since the new cities have their own departments.The Fulton TRS is rather old, and surrounding counties are moving ahead with digital system buildouts. Is there some plan to expand/upgrade the Atlanta TRS or the GEWIN system for the new Fulton cities and their public safety agencies?

Well, DeKalb has been in operation longer, and they just in the last year finally switched MOST of their units to Type II. Some users are still on Type I! Egads!

Fulton will probably do like Cobb - Dump a 1% SPLOST on the citizens to pay to move everything over to digital and force the rest of the users to buy in or lose out. My thought should be to disband Fulton County, have each city incorporate the land, have the Atlanta system absorb all the Fulton frequencies and make one hell of a large P25!

Naaaaaa! Never happen - too may politicians would be out of work!
