Welcome to our humble forum!

Is it one of these?

I had one. I liked it a lot at the time, but we were all coming off of crystal controlled scanners back then. Not much to compare it to, and probably not nearly as good as the scanners of 10-15 years ago, let alone today's conventional scanners. I remember it as having a nice solid feel, with an extruded aluminum housing.

Does it still work?

That was my first programmable scanner. 16 channels, no alpha tags or ctcss/dcs. How did we survive? ;)

I had one of these also. It had a couple of problems. 1-The batteries(6AA) were all in a tube
and sometimes failed to make contact so you had to gently nudge the thing and try to
power it up again. 2-If the batteries would fail to make contact for too long it would lose
all of the programed memories.

It was a good receiving scanner in its day but number 2 above drove me to upgrade as soon
as something better came along.
