for police,fire,ems

Alachua County

Gainesville

High Springs

Alachua

Whats a good unit to use ?

Is it digital, trunking, etc...

also FHP

Most all of the above reside on this system:

Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRUCom) Trunking System, Gainesville, Florida (radioreference.com)

FHP is not monitorable (100% encrypted on the SLERS EDACS system)

since the GRUCom system is Simulcast, I would recommend either the Uniden SDS100 (handheld) or SDS200 (base) scanner.

Uniden SDS 100/200 or a Unication, I've tried them all on the county system. Nothing will scan FHP, they are ENC.

The SDS is best for actual use as a scanner, but the Unication is more rugged, but not really a scanner. Both sound great with no intermodulation issues.

If I had to pick only one it would be the SDS-100 with 2 xtra batts.
