I received my new Alinco DX-R8 hf receiver hooked up to a Wellbrook-ALA330S performance so far on monitoring hf aero/utilities been excellent also received the Miracle Ducker IL hf/vhf/uhf antenna tuner played with a few diffrent antennas on wideband h/h receivers and its doing an excellent job with a 5 metre wire hooked outside been able to hear trenton military on S9 the Ducker got an auto transformer tunning system that provides 30-40db gain without prone noise activity also works excellent on vhf/uhf comes in handy when u are travelling all u need is a good telescopic or wire anteena.

Hi Chris at the moment i am at dads place these are some of the radios we are comparing it too Aor-7030,Icom-R9000,Icom-R9500,Nrd-545,Racal-6790,Ten Tec-340,Ten Tec-350D,Watkins Johnson-HF1000 in all fairness on hf unless u got a decent antenna u are not going to get anywhere antennas hooked up to at the moment are Pixel Pro-1A Loop,Rf Systems DX-One Professional MK11 hooked up to a Wellbrook multicoupler the bigger radios signals are excellent across most bands the Alinco is around an S1-2 down but u can tweak it up am not an expert when it comes to specs sensitivity on radios but i do have the experience of having the gear to compare it too been in the hobby for over 30 years and between me and dad have 25 hf receivers with a custom built desk i also have a radio room at my house so it comes in handy when i got to there place all my uncles are all into radios and once a month we get together and spend all night playing with radios and drinking plenty of coffee.

Lino, thank you, I already commented once that between you and your dad got more radios and receivers than ASIO in Canberra! ps. I was more interested to compare Alinco to the +/- simillar price range receivers.

Lino,
Thank you again, maybe you could update us again after week or two of usage whats good or bad about Alinco. Alinco being cheapest receiver from all three, would you pay extra for Palstar or R75
or it is good value for the money. Sorry I am asking, I will be on the market for new receiver soon and these three are in my price range.

Regards Chris

Hey Lino.
I always enjoy your shack pics. You have excellent equipment and sounds like your dad got quite the collection too. Glad to hear the Alinco is working out.
Take care 73

Hi Chris some of the features the Alinco have the Icom-R75 doesnt have and if u got back to the previous model Icom-R72 wasnt even close to the R75 but it was more expensive some companies like icom would rather luz a customer than gain one due to being greedy i know one shop in australia that would sell more alinco then any of the other major brands to be fair the Alinco should at least be around the $1000 mark in my opinion all these 3 receiver are excellent performers in there own right with different functions.Hi Brandon just letting u know dad picked up the Pixel Pro-1A loop few weeks ago very happy with it just waiting for a yaesu rotator to arrive.

Your shack pictures never cease to amaze me Lino!

There are not many receivers out there that you haven't tried!
The Alinco looks like a nice rig and is priced well too.
Must admit that I would be torn between it and the IC-R75.

Great to see more pictures!
