Sure, I can send you my file.. just let me which email address to use. I'm using my tones.cfg from v52 (I haven't updated in a while) so perhaps there is a formatting issue there? I fired up v58 today using the same settings that I was using for v52 (as far as tone tolerence, offset etc) and it didn't decode anything at all... it seemed the frequency displayed was off from the actual tone frequencies.. so I need to do a little tweaking there I believe.

If you're using an early v58, it had a build problem that resulted in tone offsets. Use v58a and that problem should go away.

No tones

Hello everyone, I am setting this program up for another department and having issues with the tones. For some reason the software is not detecting the A-B tone config. I have set up. The program is detecting the long tones without a issue but will not detect the A-B tones. The tone tolerance is set to 2.0 and the programming is below. Let me know what you guys think. Also is it ok to have the scanner volume turned down or should it be up all the way. Thanks again.

Do you have the volume turned down when you are having the issues with it picking up the tones? The volume needs to be loud enough that it will pick up the tones, but not too loud that it distorts. In my experience, about halfway seems to be about the best.

Anyway to prevent falsing when normal voice traffic is on the channel, our B tone debounce setting is 3 but still get false pages.

Try turning the volume up a little more. The low frequency tones (330.5) can be particularly difficult for TTD to detect. Also since tone tolerance is in % the range becomes narrower as the freq is lower. However with your 2% i would think you are ok. If you have access to a recording of the tone set as broadcast over the air, analyze it with Audacity to see what the tones really are.

Are you trying to use scanner control via serial port? If so, don't, it's not working properly. Just leave the scanner parked on the frequency and don't use scanner control.

When the two-tone pages are being sent, what is the "Status" on the main screen of the program? If it says "No Audio", you need to turn up the volume on your scanner or adjust the audio threshold down. Otherwise, check to see what frequency it's decoding and see if that matches your A/B tones.

What I do is use the normal email syntax in all my tones. Example: "bob fireman"<1234567890@email.com>,"jim smith"<12331231234@cell.com> (Note: this does not cause any problems for TTD.)

This way when I need to find someone in the tones I can either search by # or name. I send out a test/confirm message when a person desires to be added. I created my own tone set with audacity with a 440/500 AB toneset (these are far enough away from my tones to not cause problems). This includes a recorded message telling the recipient they have been added to the paging system but they must respond by text letting me know they got the message. Then I go into the email program (gmail) and find their response. The reason I have them respond by text is two fold. One I know it works for their phone (if not I try amr instead of mp3 in about 6 hours) and two, their phone number comes up as the sender in gmail, I search for that in my test tone list of contacts. when I find it I then remove it from the test list and add it to the appropriate fire tone list.

I hope that makes sense. My audacity tone file has all the different departments recorded confirmation messages in it. I just mute the ones I don't want to play on a given testtone.

I used to use the 55a which suddenly stopped working one day (Would not start up when I clicked it, Would almost look like the task was self terminating). I havn't played with it in forever. So I checked back on the wesite to see if there was a later software out, which there was (58b). So i downloaded it on a different pc and did everything asked including pasteing the zipped FFMPEG.exe, into the root. This one seems to be doing the same thing, i didnt even touch the TONE file for i didnt want to mess anything up, and it to crashed. Anyone have any sugestions??? Im using windows 7 64 bit.

v59 Released - for testing only

Hi everyone,

I just posted v59 on the program page, and I'm looking for some people experienced with TTD to help test it. This version uses a completely different algorithm for tone set detection. I think it should be pretty robust and should solve the few remaining problems that the previous algorithm had under some specific situations. When I get a chance I'll post a graphic that shows the difference between the two algorithms. With the v59 algorithm, an Atonelength can be specified as an optional parameter. You'll need to do this via manual tones.cfg file editing, as the TonesEditor doesn't yet have this added. If nothing is specified it uses an Atonelength of .4 seconds (same as prior versions). Also, v59 doesn't use Btonedebounce or Longtonedebounce...the debounce is equal to the tone length. The graphic should make this clearer. In the meantime, give it a shot and let me know how it works, especially in stacked page situations or situations where you've had issues with the prior algorithm either falsing or not detecting pages.

If the feedback on v59 is good, all future releases will use this new algorithm, including the Raspberry Pi version. BTW, making good progress on the Pi, my previous issues seemed to be solved by switching to a different (although more expensive) USB sound card.
