Can anyone help me with trying to program a BCD396T? I'm using the ARC software and trying to setup a system. I mainly would listen to Howard and Carroll counties. Can I make a "Maryland" system and have Howard and Carroll as Groups, would this make sense? Also, I'm only beginning to set things up and see where it says these counties use Motorola II Smartzone, but that isn't one of the choices for system type in the ARC software. Which should I choose? Sorry, I finally saved enough money to get a top of the line scanner and now I need a college course to program the thing.

The easiest way of all to program that thing, since you've already got the ARC396 software, is to become a premium subscriber to this site (see Home page.) Then, you'll be able to upload systems from the database at this site directly into the scanner with the ARC software. It takes about two seconds to completely program a county's system using that method including all the talkgroups. The decision for Quick Keys and Groups and how you want those set up can only be made by you.
