Just got a Pro-97 today and managed to get it all set up with the local channels and whatnot using Win97. I have a dumb new user question though.

There was a bunch of chatter on the police dispatch channel, and after a while they said "let's move this off to the E tactical channel". I know I have that programmed into my Pro-97. How do I switch to it so I can continue to hear what's going on?

Thanks!

Check the database for your area and see if it's listed, if not ask in the regional forum for your State

Mmm, I don't think I asked my question right. I know all the info for E tactical. I have it programmed into my scanner. How do I tell the scanner to jump to it and just listen there?

Also remember that "E-Tac" might be encrypted as well. So hopefully yours is not.

*To Pause on a Conventional channel, quickly press MAN while the channel is displayed. Press SCAN to resume.
*To Pause on a Trunked ID, quickly press and hold TRUNK while the ID is displayed. ID hold mode appears in the display and an H will appear to the left of the channel number while receiving. To resume scanning press SCAN.
*To Pause on a selected ID, press PGM then TRUNK. Press TRUNK (each time) to select one of the 5 ID lists. Press or to locate the ID and press FUNC then TRUNK. ID hold mode appears in the display and the ID# will appear at the bottom. To resume scanning press SCAN.

If it's programmed in and the E is just a channel or TG designator the scanner should simply scan to that frequency, but that depends upon how busy the system is. If it very busy you may want to manually go to the channel or TG as stated above for a TG for conventional hit MAN put in the channel number hit manual again.

Unfortunately there is no simple way to "jump" to a talkgroup. What you have to do is navigate to that talkgroup (select the correct bank in MANUAL mode, press FUN TRUNK, press UP or DOWN to get to the TG) then press FUNC TRUNK. I've found when you are pressing the final FUNC TRUNK that this might work quickly, after about 2 seconds or not at all. When it does not work, navigate to the active control channel and start over.

The only other sane way to do this is to be only scanning the trunked system, and each time someone talks that is NOT on that TG, press L_OUT. Believe it or not it can sometimes be quicker than the prescribed method. But then when you want to resume normal scanning you have to go back manually and un-lock-out all those TGs.
