Hello,
I live in Houston, TX and I am planning to purchase my first scanner. I have decided that my first scanner purchase will be a Handheld scanner. I decided to go this route because I was looking for something that was easily portable especially in case of emergency situations during hurricane season. I would also like to use the scanner on highway trips to listen to the CB stations.

One of the questions I have is should I purchase a Digital scanner since I live in the Houston, TX area? If I don't need digital I was going to purchase a Uniden BR330T.

Thanks in advance for your help!

DPS is going conventinoal digital here in the next few months supposedly, also I am sure that STAR-Net will be turning digital in the next few years, but not for certain.

Thanks 225Texas and Scanfan03! It sounds like I should save up and invest a little more and go the digital route for the long term. I think I going to purchase the BCD396T instead of the BR330T. Even though the BCD396T it is about twice the price, over the very long term it may be the better investment of the two. I will make my decision within the next 2 - 3 weeks. Thanks again for the information it really helped.

No problem, that's what this is for.
