Hi all, I've got the typical how do I start out questions.

First, I'm new to scanning.
Second, I've got a pro-96 in Bristol county as home and want to setup for a second location in Barnstable county.

So... I've loaded the pre-loaded vbank for my area that adds the MA state police.

Questions:
1. best ways to setup the scanner to monitor both Bristol and Barnstable counties easily...
2. should/could I modify the pre-loaded vbank to listen to other frequencies, given that the initial vbank only has one bank I want.
3. is there a 'best' program for easing the programming? win96?
4. Is there a reference site for others configurations I can start from that might be good?

In general... I think I want local police/fire/emergency etc for both counties (Easton Ma, Bourne Ma) MA State as a start. And I'm not sure where to go from there...

thanks in advance for any assistance... off to try and figure all this out!

I don't own a PRO96, but the Scan Cape Cod Scan Massachusetts website has lots of information and if my memory serves me correct even has some layouts or similar that may help you. I have used it for travelling to the cape and other areas in the state. I think its one of the best. http://www.scancapecod.us/xoops/

My advise is to purchase WIN 96 programming software at www.starrsoft.com and then head to the website mentioned above. There are several WIN 96/2096 files there that you can upload to your scanner in about a minute, for the counties you desire, and your done!

You will also need a programming cable to connect the scanner to the computer, available at Radio Shack Part # 20-289, I believe.

I have the 96 and also used the win96 software. I used the "web Import" feature. Easy to use software and works well.
