Either my 996XT went sour or i was picking up some kind of interference on the NJSP system yesterday. all day it had the sound of "CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP" first time this happened. Wasn't doing it on my PSR-800.

When visiting in the Plainfield-Scotch Plains area yesterday, the -106 using a duck antenna was in a coffee cup holder. I was surprised by the quantity of south Jersey NJSP comms heard. (I have different LED colors to recognize local TGs.) Traveling south, those comms disappeared around NJTP exits 9-7A, then returned as I got off 7 onto 206. Any ideas why transmitters in Union county would carry south Jersey? FWIW, NJTP cars were mostly quiet.

I start picking up NJSP Central site around Union County. Central site carries both North and South turnpike traffic in addition to Central.

Re: NJSP's North Simulcast frequencies. I'm still receiving traffic on 852.2375 but it's no longer listed in the data base. Today I received traffic in the following talk groups: B2-04 TGID 35760, B2-20 TGID 36240, Aviation TGID 26864, and StateCom 1N TGID 57872. A mistake on my part would be standard. Any thoughts?

It's still there. It's not listed as a control frequency if that's what you mean.

852.2375 is one of the channels in use on the B2 North trunking site.

That talkgroup has been dogging me for years. I could never figure out for sure who is using it. At one time I thought I had it narrowed down to the Installation & Repair unit.

It appear so irregularly and never for extended conversations, so I never get a change to get any context. There was also another new one (to me at least) in the Fish & Wildlife or DRJTBC range, analog, but I didn't get a pen quickly enough before my mind blanked. I wanna say it was a 421xx.

I did some poking around today as far as the IR sites go. Site 043 wasn't sitting right with me so I took a ride around the area.

The best I can tell, that site is on Montana Mountain, along with the regular simulcast site, however from what I can tell, the antenna is directional and points Southwest.

For the GPS, I would use these coordinates with a range of 3 miles: 40.724197, -75.143297

I also did not see any sign of the Holland Site (044). Unless someone else can prove otherwise, I would assume that site is no longer active.

Site 043 updated.

Site 044 still reports as a peer of the North zone on 851.3125, I just checked with Unitrunker.

Here is what is being reported as peers for the North zone, which matches what is in the database. The only question is whether any of the locations of these IR sites has changed from what is labeled in the database.

Maybe they moved it.

Correction on the coords, It appears that 043 covers all of Phillipsburg. Why they have that along with the Easton site is a bit of a mystery, unless they have it setup that only DRJTBC units can affiliate with Easton and NJSP can only affiliate with 043.

Based on that, I would use these coords: 40.7063889, -75.1638889 with a 4 mile range.

I will keep my eye out for site 044.

043 geodata updated.

John, what IR sites from the database can you confirm are correct, and which look iffy to you?

So far Easton & 043 are fine. I will keep 044 active full time and see if it pops up at all. The rest are in my scanner GPS enabled as of today, so I will let you know as I run into these sites.

Yesterday I drove all the way to South Jersey going through Hunterdon County. No sign of site 44 at all.

Also, the West Trenton site came and went very quickly. I wouldn't put the range on that site more than a 3 mile radius. I never even locked on to the 700 West Trenton site, so that one may even have less range than that.

How bizarre. I wonder if 044 has been moved somewhere completely different, or is very low power. There's really no guarantee that any of those IR sites are still where they were originally listed, as the state clearly changed frequencies on them within the past year or so. I have verified that all of the ones listed are reporting as peers to at least one of the three main simulcast zones, and the frequencies for each are accurate. Location seems to be the big question mark here, especially the now mysteriously phantom Site 044.

As far as the West Trenton 700 site, that was never listed on any of the documentation for the PSIC that I came across. Given the fact that Site 032 was erroneously listed in Bergen, I suppose it's possible that Site 036 is "misplaced" as well. I'd still like to know if Bearfort, Cranbury and Wildwood exist as physical sites or just paper ones.

I'm off tomorrow and got four new tires to break in. I'll take a drive and do some investigating on Bearfort and Cranbury.
