Not the 6000Li then. That a monoband portable with no GPS and it's limited to one system type only...

That's my fault Scott. I read it too fast. They're APX7000 UHF2/700 that's FD and OEM got. PD got the 6000's.

Linden PD Radios

APX6000XE is correct. I had my hands on an LPD radio last week. They are programmed into three zones with mainly Zone 1 being Linden, Roselle, and Elizabeth PD's. Zone 2 was I/O channels, and Zone 3 appeared to be some type of statewide I/O channels. Radio with the swivel case seems kinda bulky and a bit heavier in my opinion.

It makes perfect sense as PD doesn't do much Interop via a radio. They call into dispatch and say contact the other town.

FD uses UHF conventional still for interop and OEM probably still use amateur stuff along with the county OEM talkgroups.

Tough to do covert operations ( especially for detectives) with that bright yellow box in your hand or on your duty belt!!

Westfield PD and FD is going to the NJICS. Should be fully up and operational in about 3 months.

Yea I heard that too... Wish they would've just upgraded the County EDACS system instead of going in on this stupid state system...

State system trust me is more cost effective in the long run. As long as the coverage is there it pays for itself down the road with radio updates, maintance, etc.

Also.. You watch Clark and Scotch Plains aren't too far off. Plainfields Narcodics teams use the system seldomly. Down the road they too may break the bank and switch over. That's when they can get the money to do it....

Do you even know what it cost to be a subscriber of the system? And I know for a fact Clark will not be. Scotch plains I don't doubt it because county dispatched them, and Plainfield as well.

200 monthly or yearly, I cant remember... Plus the cost of the radios and dispatch infrastructure.

It's $30 per radio annually. So 100 radios on the system will cost a town $3,000. The radios are expensive but that's a one time cost. The operational costs will be next to nothing.

EDACS is end of life this year. I doubt upgrading would be an option. That's one reason Middlesex County is moving away from their EDACS system.

Exactly. Plus not to mention ProVoice sounds absolutely terrible. Even through AMBE +2 vocoder.
