• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Do you hear tones when pressing buttons? Does the volume go up and down on the display when you turn the knob? Does it make any noise at all? If no, then its probably the speaker, the connection to the speaker in the case or it could be a problem with the audio PA.

If some things make noise but still no voice audio it could be a programming issue or perhaps something with that system.

Was this a sudden occurrence or has it been like this for some time?

I know the volume knob is actually broken. I have the radio set to minimum 20 in the personality. It happened after rebanding about a year ago. It is like the radio is not decoding some of the channels. It is like having missing channels but I have them all. It does not happen on all of the sites.

Is this conventional, or trunked?
it only happens on certain systems or channels?

when you press any button does the radio go "beep" or "boop"?? LOL

If conventional, do you see a CG indicator? when you are recieving with no audio press and hold the CLR/MTR button(little button on side above PTT). After a second or two do you now have audio?

if trunked does the audio go away after every X amount of PTTs then the next PTT has audio?

It is a trunked system. I listen only. The buttons make a sound when I press them.

then youre speaker is good. You get an antenna symbol which means you are recieving.

Is this provoice or or in the clear?

When the antenna symbol comes up, and you press the CLR/MONITOR button do you hear digital junk almost like the CC data, or do you hear the TX voice?

you say its been going on since rebanding. is it your radio only, or all 700ps? 800mhz i presume? or did you go narrowband recently on 450?

Your probably going to need to have the radios software recovered and tracking data tuned. If its specific to your radio then its not a major issue. If it happens to all radios intermittantly you may have station problems which is quite major.
