Multiple agencies cover Lake Wylie where I live and boat. Where I live is an unincorporated area and where I boat is a 13,000 acre lake.

My question is what would be the best scanning plan to cover all of these? I have a RS PRO-97.

I'd like to monitor on the North Carolina side, Gaston County law enforcement, Mecklenburg County law enforcement, and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

And on the South Carolina side, York County Sherrif, and South Carolina Dept of Natural Resources.

Thank you in advance...

You answered your own question. You should break it down by banks just the way you listed it. Put Game Warden for Lake Patrol in seperate or joint banks to suite yourself. Use WIN97 software to make it easy. Good Luck.

The only challenge you'll have is York County. They operate on a P-25 digital trunked system that the PRO-97 can't monitor. Otherwise you have a pretty good start to what you're looking for.

I was just looking at the York County Public Safety Trunking. You answered my question before i could even post it!

What is the least expensive scanner that would handle the new digital P25 system?

Great help,
Thanks

Used a Pro-96 for BC296D...

but i'd save a bit and get the Pro-106 when it goes on sell again, got one for 304 bucks during the last sell with coupon last month...

I'd stay away from the older vesions of digital scanners if York County is high on your priority list. While a PRO-96 (for example) should technically be capable of scanning the system, its performance is considered poor at best and you'll be disappointed. This system is a P-25 simulcast system, which causes scanners fits trying to decode the digital audio when it receives signals from multiple towers. This is a well-documented problem. The PRO-106/PSR-500 is better but still not perfect. Likewise with the newer Uniden models.
