It has been a few years since I have heard the NCTD talkgroups active, and have not seen any of their cop cars at any scenes. Last night there was a fatal train vs ped at a NCTD station in Carlsbad, and except for Carlsbad PD, NCTD utility workers and Sheriffs investigators, no sign of these guys.

Were they disbanded and duties taken over by Sheriffs? I think we can probably remove them from the RRdb since not active for several years.

NCTD never had its own police department. At one time they had their own security force, but it was deemed too expensive and risky. All of this type of work is handled by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department TESU under contract.

Talkgroups are still active with code compliance officer traffic. It's in the clear. For now.

Talkgroups 2880 and 2881 are active with security type comms at Oceanside Transit Center and Escondido Transit Center. Call signs are “ODO##.”

Yeah, I hear them frequently. ODO often means Off Duty Officer, but I also know there is a private security firm that uses that as their business name (and they hire people who are not law enforcement)

I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out what ODO means! I came up with Off Duty Officer, too, but the guys on these talkgroups don’t sound like law enforcement.
