Some pretty good skip tonight on 2 meters here in north Georgia. A repeater that is 100 miles away I usually hear with 3 bars, I am hearing with 8 bars. Scanning the 2m band now, I'll see what I get if anything more.

Shucks, we could have had our ACARS discussion! - Did you try the Gilmer repeater?

I did get into the ISS (Packet) yesterday, but have been trying to get a voice contact unsuccessfully for 4 years. :-( - Finally bought a beam and now trying to get tubing bent so can rotate at +30 degree elevation.

I worked directly with a number of the Astros on both the Shuttle COM/NAV and ISS GN&C/EPS systems over the 70's through the late 90's at KSC. :)

Even worked with Owen Garriot (W5LFL) on the Antennas installed in the overhead "windows" back when he used the Motorola brick.. :)

I knew some of the alternate 2M frequencies but never used them.

However, myself and AF4N made the first and only 2M Shuttle Columbia in OPF Bay2 to a Mobile contact in Titusville (with me, of course) during 3rd-shift ops at the OPF back in '81 or so.
