• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

That is common. The firmware in KCH needs to match fw in radio deck.
If you have the KPG-D1N software, go into the directory on your PC and find the FPRO.exe application which is the firmware loader.
Reload firmware and both head & deck should then match. Then you can edit codeplug.

Hey there, I am running a NX-5700 ad NX-5800 in a dual deck configuration. I just switched from the KCH-19 to the KCH-20R. When I power on the radio, I am getting the same message at the user above, indicating Firm Mismatch. Then I get the following information.

Version Info
D1: K 5.13.00
D2: K 5.13.00

Check Sum
D1: B60F
D2 B60F

Version Info
H1:K 5.12.00

Check Sum
H1: 170E

I assume that I need to update the firmware in the control head to 5.13.00? If so, where do I find that firmware?

Also, I do not have the FPRO.exe or the KFL that was advised above.

Any guidance or support would be much appreciated.

Yes, you will need to update the firmware, which will update all 3 even if the firmware matches. You can get the firmware and software from your Kenwood Dealer.

IF you have the download for D1, D3, KFL is included with the software download unless you get a stripped down version which some people tend to do.

Just for reference

DO NOT UPDATE THE LMC TO 1.30, you must update to 2.01 to prevent a headache!
