Whiskey, if one has proscan and use it rather than Sentinal, it makes it very easy to do anything. Sorry, luv their scanner, hate their software. LOL

I haven't done it, because I bought it with the upgrades. But would guess, that you can. I can do every other setting through proscan,. Everything that I can do on the scanner, I can do through the software. Why would entering a key be different. Just asking, don't really know.

If I am wrong, I stand corrected and apologize, but in the year that I have had the SDS 200 and proscan, I have found nothing that I can do at the scanner, I can't do with proscan.

You could, if so desired, use ProScan's
It should work in ProScan using the virtual keys . Menu - Settings - Upgrade - Upgrade NXDN then scroll to the character then click on right arrow and so forth.
It does work. I entered several keys that way. Using the scroll in ProScan instead of on the scanner itself was a little more convenient.

Just remember that the keys only use letters A through F. Occasionally, someone will misread the display, and enter a B when the actual entry should be an 8. Also, all of the key must be entered, including the hyphens between the groups of the characters. Another common error is pressing the E (Yes) key after each character. Only after all the the keys characters should the E key be pressed.

Is using ProScan’s remote control functionality really just doing it on scanner… remotely?

When you use a Windows Remote Desktop session and run a program or change a setting, where are you doing this? On the pc you are touching or the target pc.

I had not thought of this ability when I said what can’t be done in ProScan.

In my case, the scanner is connected to the PC for logging and virtual control. I’m simply entering the key through the scanner’s menu via the virtual control instead of using the scanner’s keypad.

Thanks everyone. I know how to get to the upgrade part. My problem is when you are entering the key how do you set the letter or number of the key. I thought you didn't hit enter in till the whole key has been entered.

You do not hit Enter until all components of the key are entered.

When you first go to the Update in the Settings menu, and then select the key to update, you go to the page for the actual entry.

You see a blank space for the first character. (I'm using the ProVoice screen since my SDS200 already has both the DMR and NXDN keys entered. But the procedure is the same for any of the keys.)

Turn the scroll knob until the first character in the key is in place. (If using virtual control in ProScan, which I am doing so that I can do screenshots, click on the knob and you'll see a green highlight around it indicating that is is active for use.)

After getting the first character in place, use the arrows, labeled for left & right, to move over one space. When using ProScan, you see the arrows at the bottom of the display, as well as labeled arrows on the keypad side. If doing this directly on the scanner, use the buttons at the bottom of the display. Your 'Systems' key moves the active space to the left, and what is normally your channels key moves it to the right. The middle sites/departments key takes you back to scanning, and you'd have to start all over.

After moving to the second spot, use the scroll knob and turn it until the next character needed is visible.

Then, once again, use the arrows to get to the next entry point.

You continue selecting a character (letter or number), and shifting to the right after each one is in place, until you have entered all of the letters & numbers, as well as the hyphen between the groups.

Once all characters entered in the key are set, then hit the Enter key to finish the process.
