• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to get my NX5200s to display the unit name that is transmitting to the other radios receiving.

I am doing NXDN simplex and I have the box checked "Over-the-Air Alias" (Personal>NXDN>System Information) and I have a unit name typed into the "Unit ID Name (Own)" box.

Is there other functions that need to be set? I am thinking maybe I need to set up the other radios to display the recieved "unit ID" from the radio doing the transmitting, but I don't see an option for that.

Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert as I'm still getting used to the KPG-D1N and KPG-D3N software, but I'll give you my best shot.

In the KPG-D1N software, go to Transceiver Settings | NXDN | NXDN Information
Once you're on the NXDN Information page, in the first category "General" make sure that the first item "Unit ID Display on Group Call" is CHECKED as shown in screenshot below.

Of course, all radios using your simplex channel need to have their Unit ID (Own) filled in so that all receivers display it when any one radio Xmits. My pre-OTAA radios (older model Icom IDAS mobiles/HTs) send out only UID numbers, not OTAA label, so I added their UIDs and User Names in the NXDN Individual ID List (the page just below "NXDN Information" in KPG-D1N) so that my Kenwoods display the User Names from the Individual ID List table.
Hope that helps.

Yeah, that looks correct.

I'm working from home and my KPG-D3 and KPG-D1 are on a laptop in my work truck.
Those softwares are a bit awkward, and I'm still more comfortable with the older radio versions. I do have over the air alias working on my NX-3400's.
If you still can't get it to work, I'll be in the office next week.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot. The "Unit ID Display on Group Call" was unchecked on mine so hopefully that's the fix.
