Normally I monitor this frequency in this manner 470.7875R OCCB 1 Zone 46 WIK-934 100.0, however of course OCCB was abolished (Narcotics being absorbed into the Detective Bureau) and I have heard little activity. I happened to enter it in a scanner while on Long Island with no tone and copied a DCS of 371 with NYPD transmissions which appeared to be in the nature of a Citywide type traffic. I happened to be in NYC today and checked with a different scanner and received the same DCS. Based on the DCS and the nature of some of the transmissions I would speculate that it is a Transit Division frequency. Anyone have confirmed info?

A console may have SimulSelect enabled on one of the CityWide channels. For example, one of the NYMACS routes Citywide traffic, I can’t remember which one though.

All I usually hear on this frequency is the dispatch announcing any 10-13's, missings, level 1's ect. Never anything exclusively transit related. Is it a new use for this old frequency?

The past two days I have been hearing a mix of items specifically inside in the subway system plus missing persons and mobilizations in the precincts near the subway lines. You will mostly hear just a dispatcher as it is intended to be used by the higher ranks in the transit divisions to keep an ear on things. Happy listening!

The higher ranks don’t listen to a zone that just carries dispatcher traffic. If something is going on they get an alert on their Dept iPhone and then turn to the proper division.
“Higher ranks” get notified of so many unusual or “heavy jobs” they usually read the text and forget about it.

Under the VHF system they had a Citywide Transit frequency, it appears that they have instituted a Citywide Subway channel reusing an OCCB channel. Why, who knows, but it exists. The future will see if its used for any productive purpose. As far as I can tell this is a fairly recent development. There is a dispatcher who monitors it, so it is of sufficient importance to the department to allocate that resource to it. I have not heard a Division announced yet, unfortunately I am monitoring from Long Island and due to COVID am not in the city enough to reliably monitor this channel.

The dispatcher allocation is not really an issue since it will likely be combined with other citywides which are monitored by the same dispatcher.
