In what context did you hear this in?

I've been hearing it for awhile. But it usually comes over as 75 public safety auto for example.

Also they don't get assigned jobs, they seem to do the quality of life measures. Car stops, directives etc.

Are you thinking of the NYC Sheriffs aides (not to be confused with the Sheriffs) which wear a patch that says “Public Safety” That’s all I can think of. If so, they’re just peace officers. They generally assist in admin duties and occasional building protection.

They're on the precinct frequencies. And what Danny said. I think I first started hearing them sometime this past summer or fall.

”We received a tip about a gang member who took control of a woman's apartment in public housing, converting it into a trap house. Public safety auto responded, took control of the gang member and seized his drugs and gun." This was a tweet from the 52. Public housing units?

Now that I think about it, could be a replacement unit for the former anti-crime units that were disbanded around the summer. It would make sense since I hear them going to high priority jobs most of the time and doing car stops

Yep, that makes sense actually.

Sounds like a politically correct renaming of anti crime officers.
