My department (Deer Creed Fire Protection District) is dispatched by Edmond, OK on the OK Win system. They switched everything to P25 on Tuesday 12-15-20. My Uniden BCD436HP scanner supposedly will work with this, if I can get the updated frequencies. I download the frequencies on the Uniden Sentinel software which runs off the Radio Reference database but the database apparently does not have this update yet. Any idea when RadioReference will update the database for our department with the new P25 frequencies? Is there any way to know when this is updated, other than just downloading the database each day to check?

Deer Creek probably uses the Guthrie site.

Put in the red and blue frequencies for okc and guyhrie as your control channels. They are updated and work. If you see something highlighted in green it means it was just added within the last (24hrs?) and the yellow is a few days old I believe.

All the frequencies are the same. All you need to do is change the TGID for what you want to hear by dividing the old TGID by 16. In the case of Deer Creek, Dispatch is now 3429, Fireground1 is 3431 and Fireground 2 is 3433.

I assume that you have the OKWIN P25 system set up already in your 436. Just changing the TGIDs in the old system won't work by itself, the system has to be set to P25 Trunk, which involves just adding the new system in Sentinel from the latest database. Then you can manually add Deer Creek as a department, and then add the new talkgroups to the department. Or you can just do it all with the updated database, which now has Deer Creek listed.

Unfortunately I don't understand any of this. But thank you for trying to help me. On my scanner the only way I know to program anything into it is to download the database with the Sentinel software that came with the scanner. I don't know any way to actually change individual frequencies. Unless Uniden updates their software, this scanner is basically worthless. I called both Uniden and the place I bought the scanner from and neither could help me. Several of our department mobiles and handhelds also don't work after this change. I responded on a call yesterday and could not talk to dispatch on the truck radio. Had to get out a handheld radio while trying to drive to the call.

I updated the data base this morning but it still does not work. I drilled down into the database (I did not know I could do this) and the TGID (whatever that means) still says 54864 for our dispatch channel. It wont let me change the number. Also it shows the Audio Type as Analog and I don't see anyplace that mentions P25.

You are looking at the old system. The new one is the Oklahoma Wireless Interoperability Network (OKWIN) (P25), listed under county systems for Oklahoma County in the current database. The database is only updated on Mondays. If this system is not in your scanner, you can add it with Sentinel. I don't live very far from your department, I could come by and help you out if you want.

Don’t despair! The updated info will appear tomorrow, Monday. Just download the current database, find your channel and presto!
