Hi All,
I know at some point, these questions has been answered and IF I could have found the answers, I wouldn't ask. I've owned a Pro-2045 for some time. I've used it to listen mostly to VHF high-band fire and police departments within the Ark-La-Tex area, up to 75 miles away. The J-pole is at 50', LOL!
When I purchased it some years ago at the ArkLaTex ComputerSheaux, it was used and the gentleman did not have a owner's manual or user's guide. So, I've had to more or less 'wing-it' as to the specs and operations from what I know about my other Rat $hack scanners, LOL!
Today, I managed to find the 'specs' on it and there was mention of "tapping the discriminator" and a CTCSS "board".
Ok, Question #1.....(3 parts)
A: What does tapping the discriminator give me?
B: What kinds of information or signals would I be looking at and
C: With what?
Question #2....
A: What does the CTCSS board do?
B: Where can I get one if I wanted one?
Now, I realize the Pro-2045 is over 11 years old, but as long as I've had it, it's been a good receiver and the Wx Alert works well. I'm really greatful that we have not had much really 'severe' weather this year, so Skywarn has mostly been 'silent'. But, you NEVER know around here, LOL! If you don't like the weather in Shreveport, wait 30 minutes, hahahahahaha.
The answers to my question maybe should be sent directly to me at:

Most folks are into the newer scanners anyway, but, there maybe someone who might need to know as well.
Respectfully submitted,
73,
