Well if you turn it on and if it works, well yes. but it looks like you have a clasic there, will it work on the Snohomish County trunking system "No" you might have some WSP stuff in it, but its hard to tell from the photo, it is just a big brick from days gone by, but in its day must have been fun, like the new ones are today

Its not like a old car, you can work on and get running, that things days are over, you cant add to it, I have a pile of those old scanners, I cant tell if its a old Cristal scanner or not, my dads old one still works for his area, but the one you have there will not work for Snohomish County anymore, if it is a cristal scanner, you would buy crisyal that worked for your area and they would work for that Frequncey only, what you have is not a gold mind, just something old that worked in the day, and its days are long gone.

You would, probably, be better off selling it to someone that collects old Regency equipment, then using that money towards a modern scanner.

Hi Pizzaandbeer,The old scanners like the radio shack pro 77/78 and bearcat/ regency scanners used a crystal to select the frequency. The new scanners do this without the plug in crystal. I still have a couple . I just changed my kitsap co feed from one(pro 78) to a pro 2020. Its a pain in the *** to find crystals anymore. Hope I explained it well enough.Tim

YouTube - Regency MONITORADIO Act-E 10 HLU Police Scanner - Vintage

Makes a great weather radio! (with the right crystal plugged in)

You can still buy crystals for these radios, just do a search, but you cannot listen to the more complex 'trunking' radio systems.

With some luck and perseverance, I bet you could crystal one up for the marine channels as well. In fact, I just ordered two crystals off ebay for my Realistic Pro-16 for the marine bands. CH. 16 and 22A. Whoot!

There was a Pro 16 at the Goodwill (Sat) off 145th in N. Seattle for $3.99 in excellent condition. I should have grabbed it Looks similar to the one you have. The older scanners show up at Goodwill-St. Vincent quite often. I found a Uniden BC278CLT and a Pro 58 the other day for $2.99 and $3.99. I had to buy an a/c adapter for the 278 and it's working great!......There's still lots a analog VHF-UHF to listen too. State Patrol is still using 155 mhz range. Don't give up on the old scanners just yet.

I love the old radios, They just sit here on a shelf and make me smile.
Speaking of thrift stores, I walked past a shelf and it had a Code 3 Vcon siren with light controls on it, i looked at it and thought the tag said 89.00, I was using a Southern VP Siren at the time so i set it back down, The person with me said the tag had 89 cents on it are you getting it. I still have it.

If you get cold in the winter, find yourself a Bearcat 250. Mine used to overheat pretty badly in the day. I still have a Regency MX 7000 & AOR AR1000, both broken. The keypad does not work on the Regency. When I sent the AR1000 in for repair, they failed to align the keyboard pads. It was unblocked for analog cell phones. I lost my Bearcat IV to a girlfriend. I wish I still had that radio.
