• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have one 700mhz phase 2 system (moto) that consistently gives me problems, it will freeze on TGs drop to zero signal, the Ross/site will change to zeroes and the pager will completely reboot at least once every 5 minutes. I have approximately 7 or 8 other 700mhz systems (both Harris and moto) programmed and none of them do this. I reflashed the firmware and deleted them re input the system info with no change. I am 3 miles or less from the closest tower and have 3 different G5’s that all do this on only this system. The system is Somerset county, NJ 700.

It's likely a firmware bug. Work with your dealer to get diagnostic logs collected and submitted.

It’s been like this since 1.1 through 1.31, and only one system??

The firmware should never crash, no matter how badly one system may be behaving.

As I see it, you have choices:
  1. Get the diagnostics to Unication so hopefully they can debug and fix the firmware issue
  2. Complain to the system owner (good luck with that)
  3. Complain about it here, and hope for ........... ?

Not complaining, just seeing if anyone has had similar issues with this or other systems.
to enable diagnostic logging I have to enable in the pps correct

I read a similar report recently, but I don't remember if it was form you or someone else.

There are several things you have to get right (like enabling tracing in the firmware), and there's a "Log Extraction Tool" that you'll need. It's prob best to work through your dealer to get the latest version of the tool, and instructions.

Not unique to 700mhz, I have the same issue on a 800mhz system on a G4, and I am complaining. its a $600 device

Try changing firmware back to older one and that has solved my problem. Check to see if your radio is G5D model as it seems that the D models do this.

I can't believe it. My G5 running V1.31 does the same thing on this system! However my older G5 running beta firmware does not have an issue with this system.
