Not new to trunked scanners (I have a BCD396T) but I am new to SDR trunking. Not new to linux nor Windows10 as I use both daily.

Looking over OP25 information, what is the difference between the Boatbod and Osmocom versions?

Which of the 2 is more developed?

Are there any instructions for installing on Linux Mint or can I just follow the Ubuntu instructions since Mint is based off Ubuntu?

Does this have an interface to feed a BCFY feed?

I've looked around here and there and I find things up to a few years old so I don't really know what is current.

Any help is appreciated.

Right now, the primary differences are osmocom features an improved customizable user interface, sql database control channel logging & log review tool, tdma control channel (beta), trunked P25 call following concurrent with full-time tracking of one or more P25 control channels, and some other things I'm forgetting. These new osmocom features were released several weeks ago.

I can't speak to the features unique to boatbod as I haven't followed it, but I can tell you that the features above are not included nor are they compatible at this time (someone could adapt them with work).

Thanks for the quick reply. I saw that thread and people were mentioning both boatbod and osmocom so I was wondering what the difference is. Looking at Git it seems boatbod hasn't been updated in a while, unless I was looking at the wrong place, which is quite possible.

Wrong on so many levels.
Boatbod op25 has tracked multiple control channels and multiple systems for a good long time (more than a year). I wrote the multi_rx code to support trunking back when I implemented Motorola Smartnet. My version can also do TDMA control channel, so really the main difference is that Osmocom has a newer GUI and new capabilities to log to a database. If these aren't that important then I suggest boatbod will be more stable for you.

I wasn't looking for a confrontation. As I said, I haven't been paying attention to the boatbod branch. No need for attitude.
Attitude as you call it, is a reflection of the spirit of your original post. I think it's great that you are contributing to the development of the Osmocom codebase, but please don't run down other peoples efforts due to lack of familiarity with their work. If you don't know the other guy's capabilities perhaps it's best to just point out what your stuff can do and leave it at that.

I've worked almost daily on op25 since Sept 2017 and although there is clearly divergence between the two code bases, a lot of what I've accomplished has fed back in to Osmocom in one form or another. Through this time I've always left it up to the end user to decide which version is right for them and never pushed someone to choose one over the other. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, and unfortunately neither have historically had much in the way of documentation so it can be a challenge to figure things out when you're starting cold. Perhaps that will change if some suitably motivated individuals take an interest in filling the void.

Have a good evening.

I think either I misrepresented my "spirit" or you're reading it wrong. Since I have no control of the latter, I shall accept the former.

I apologize. My intention was never to "run down" the work of others. Having been through the codebase and mailing list archives, I know who you are and I know what you've done with the project based on what could be gleaned from those sources.

In joy.
