• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Howdy,
I stumbled across TRBOnet a few weeks ago which is a really neat free tool. It peaked my interest about a IP P25 console like TRBOnet. I wasn't sure if there is open source P25 IP consoles out there?

My opinion - I think that would be quite an undertaking to make something like that open source. Even TRBOnet is linked into Motorola. There's a lot of money to be made if you develop a good product. Just like how Avtec got gobbled up by Motorola. They were a direct competitor to Motorola, so Mother M just bought them and now resell their product.

I had recommended a Mototrbo IPSC - Avtec solution for a client when Avtec was gaining market share and was independent and only ones to interface a console directly at the IPSC without an RF control station. Motorola did everything to throw the monkey wrench into that marriage. First they could support it and even demonstrate it, then dragged heels and couldn't demonstrate it and then the back room wrangling began.

The P25 console stuff is part of the P25 standard and with buying the documents can be used freely, in theory. The vocoders are available from DVSI as a USB dongle. You would need several for simultaneous talk groups. Motorola and Harris have their own flavors of Option Codes so doing some things like talk group merge or multicast may be a problem. You also have to decide at what level you will interface to the system or base stations. Messy but their could certainly be a market niche. But the 800LB blue gorilla will drop down if any of this touches /\/\otorola systems.

There is a large TRBOnet system in Buffalo, that brings in P25 (audio) using gateways. If you don't need ID, as many don't, this works well.

NIC address is the IP address assigned to the PC, assuming one network connection. Open a command prompt, run "Ipconfig" the IPv4 address is the one to try. I assume running TRBOnet 5.7

TRBOnet isn't worth much, without something to connect to.

I’ll try that as soon as I get home, thanks for the help

I got the console running but I'm having issues setting up an FM station and can't find the P25 gateway. Any ideas?

In server app, add a "control station", use the PCs sound card, and com port for COR/PTT. All other options need a gateway device, like an A200 SwiftAgent, or connection to a repeater/trunking controller.
