Anyone having issues with receiving any of the towers? King City, Ballinfad? I get the Mississauga tower but it seems like its at half its normal power?

It was loud & clear for me today off the Mississauga tower.

Mississauga Tower on 2 bars, Ballinfad and king city not even picking up the CC which i normally have 5 bars on the 396

I drove home on the 403 today thru Mississauga.
Full signal thru from 401/Renforth to 403 Sir Win Church.
Heard plenty of activity on Caledon, Aurora & P.Credit t/g's.
Nothing out of the ordinary.

I was picking up King City and Ballinifad just fine from Mississauga no problem earlier tonight.

is it possible your antenna/cable is going south and not the scanner? maybe try a different antenna (if u havent already)

King City was solid for me on Friday, i listen to it @ work from time to time.
B-fad came in no different (i.e. weak) when I drove home on Wednesday on the 401 thru Milton.

Ballinafad loud and clear for me in Kitchener with just a ground level antenna.

Any suggestions where i can take the radio to get serviced besides Radio World? For some unknown reason Radio World is shutting down their service dept from Sept 5th to Oct 22...

Great customer service.... Its a wonder Radio World is still in business...

I have tried several antennas, different cables even was 1000ft away for the Mississauga Tower and still only 2 bars unless they talk, which normally i get 5 bars on the 396 when scanning... Ballinfad and King City are both dead to me not even grabbing the CC which i normally can do with a hand held antenna...

With any luck, they're going under. They could stop selling anything to do with radios tomorrow and they'd still make a killing with their GPS sales, so I don't think you'll see them go out of business any time soon.

Yes they make a killing on GPS sales..... I will talk with them on Tuesday...

Why don't you send it to Lectron Radio in Peterborough? They're the authorized Uniden repair centre for Ontario.

Brian, I am surprised you get B-fad & King City at all in Miss.
I find that B-fad is extremely weak thru Milton. King City floats in & out in Miss.
The Mississauga fleetnet tower for me is amazing on the 401 & 403. On the QEW it is weaker. 2/5.
I am Using a SMA Diamond Antenna.

Perhaps it is normal for your scanner to recieve so poorly.
Mike has mentioned that the shop in Peterborough will repair Uniden scanners.
No need to worry about Radio World.

I am going to take it to Radio World and see what they say, but if its going to be 6 weeks, i will go the Lectron way..

I use outdoor antennas at home and get Guelph, Ballingfad and King City rather well, While on the road i usually grab Ballinfad and King City again rather strong, but not to even grab the CC their is a problem.. Even Peel Band comes in crappy, Almost wondering if the outdoor antenna got hit by some lightning while the 396 was on it.. really weird

I doubt RW can fix it. They're not an authorized repair centre, so they won't have schematics. Unless it's something really simple (unlikely), they'll just send it to Lectron. Save yourself some time and money and do it yourself.

Just to update you guys, I sent it to Lectron very fast turnaround and very friendly people to deal with... Not expensive either.... RW does their own repairs but Jeff told me his Tech is off getting hip surgery for the next 2 months... He also informed me RW doesn't deal with Lectron at all... Non the less , very happy with Lectron service....
