OPP don't release response times to the public or their municipalities. So it's anyone's guess when you can expect a response. Most municipal services report time to arrival of each priority type.

EMS does as well. OPP use the status bits (DEK) to append updates to the call.

Sorry, I meant monthly reporting or annual reporting in public documents...for example: Toronto, Guelph, Waterloo, etc all publish response times for zones/areas based on priority from time of incoming call to someone on-scene.

In Toronto, I've heard people can be on hold for many minutes or even hours for non emergency dispatch calls or even 911.
Sometimes people will try to skew by releasing "Dispatched to arrival" times which are not reflective of actual response times that the public see as they could backed up by 3-4 calls. They are expecting the time call was answered (even if by queue) until arrival which is the real response time from the time a member of the public calls until the first officer is on scene.

Here is a recent example

OPP may release the information as a media item. If your really interested try contacting public relations or the media office. Some should be able to direct you to the appropriate document. I do know that the information is compiled and used to determine patrol frequency, training and equipment deployment.

They do not release response times. Requests from others have been rejected as it is "an officer safety" issue.....You will not find them anywhere. You can try contacting your local police services board as to why theyre not there but you will get the same answer. There is no transparency.

Good point and a possible new thread topic on the lack of transparency. No agency is going to provide a black and white "3min 28 second" answer. The most you may get is a general response times have improved 5.12%. To be fair one big reason for this vagueness is because some idiot somewhere will say you took longer that 3 min 28 seconds to get here.

Heres Guelphs 2019 priority 1 response time average

Heres Londons for 2020
2020 RESPONSE TIMES*
90th Percentile

  • Code 1 (Emergency) - 9 minutes 0 seconds
  • Code 2 (Urgent) - 164 minutes 44 seconds
  • Code 3 (Non-Urgent) - 819 minutes 57 seconds

FOI request. They are a public agency and there is no reason for them not to release them. I know local police boards get them.

If the numbers show that you're essentially on your own on rural Ontario, the rabble might get awful ideas like defending their lives and property.

Hence, they don't release them.
