Hello all,

I am curious if there is a way to control the order of the Talk Groups in a given Scan List?

On a traditional scanner I can control what channels are in what order.

However here it seems that the Objects are just being pulled in and ordered by their place in the overall object list.

The reason for this is if I am monitoring Police and they say "go to 2" I just want to move up one channel (Talk Group). I don't want to have to randomly scan through the list to try and find where Channel 2 is.

Any thoughts?

I believe as I briefly tried it but never saw the need to complete, that it can be done
with Win500. The anal retentive part of me wanted my objects to all have sequential scan list numbers. I clicked in a object number field and it was highlighted and would have let me change it's number. If you did your programming in Win500 then renumbered to be in the desired order before uploading to radio ????

The best way would be to use software. I know Win500 and PSREdit500 allow you to adjust the order of the objects. ARC500 may as well, but I don't know that for certain.

Definitely use software...

I keep all my TG's in the order I want, and it works just like what you're asking for. If someone's on Ch-1 and says "go to 2" you can hit "manual" (which will most times, but not always, stop you on that TG" and then move to the next TG with one of your arrow keys.

I've also found it handy to reserve memory blocks 0000-0022 and set them up as locked out freqs with alpha tags for each scanlist. The radio won't scan them, but when you scroll through your scan lists (using L/R arrows) these will be the lowest numbered objects in their respective lists, and thus be the first thing you see. That helps you to alpha-tag each scanlist the way you want it and have it appear when you're browsing.

i.e. I use object 0001 for SL#1 and label it "Virginia State Gov't". When I scroll to scanlist 1, the object immediately displayed is the lowest numbered object in that list. So 01-0001 can function as a scanlist alpha-tag. The only thing that would defeat this would be to have object 0000 in that scanlist....(but I've assigned object 0000 to go with the SkyWarn list)

I'm not having an easy time explaining this, but I hope you get the idea.
