Its on the way now I just need to figure out how or which mast to instal it on any ideas also looking if I need to have one built a good local in Bexar County Texas.
I know that i can buy a spliter to split the cable becuase I would like to have a conection in about three differnt places should i use a regular coax spliter (tv) or is there a special and the more times I split it will I have more loss.
Ideally you would keep the connectors to zero. I don't quite understand what you are requesting though. Are you going to split the cable for different radios or simply have a straight connector in 3 places? If you are going to send the antenna to more than one radio, you should be looking at an antenna coupler of some sort.
In either case, you should have some sort of an active multi-coupler to overcome the losses you will induce by splitting your feed. You will find, for example, if you run one antenna thru a splitter to two scanners, that each scanner will receive approximately half of the signal that is present at the input to your splitter. If you use a four-way splitter, then each output will carry approxmiately one fourth the signal presented to the splitter input from the antenna.
By using an active (not passive) multicoupler/splitter, you will overcome the losses interjected by a traditional passive multicoupler/splitter. I might suggest the two below. Each has it's own set of fans who swear by them, and you will note the electroline is quite a bit cheaper. Some prefer to spend more for the Stridsberg, but I know Electroline users say they get the same results for a lot less money. Also, on either, any unused output ports should have terminators on them to prevent losses.
Anyway, that is some suggestions for you. Good luck.
Yeah I am just going to run one scanner but would like to be able to move it around but I just got a pro 83 so now i might run both but the info helps with either one thanks again
If that is the case, I would just use a normal spliiter, I wouldn't be so confident using that antenna on that little radio. It should be fine if you are in a rural area though..
Yeah, that pro-83 will be overloaded by that antenna. I speak from experience. If you do hook it up, buy one of those in line variable attenuator from R.S. and put it in line with your coax (on the end inside your house) before you connect it. You'll need it.
