EZCAP SDR usb dongle got mine from Amazon

I haven't got it working yet with SDR# software of the HDSDR software.
I wish there was a easy install with the software and not have to put this dll file in with this libusb files etc.
Is there a easy way to get this thing going.

Hope someone can help.

"I haven't got it working yet with SDR# software of the HDSDR software."

Are you talking about a ezcap dongle? I found the ezcap TV software wouldn't work with win xp sp3 as well. Some drivers were not certified.
Also, that dongle has been getting sold with different chip than is stated. Mine was supposed to be e4ooo but I got one of the lessor chips.
I haven't updated the sdr software since before the change about the dll. I think it could be as simple as copy/paste that dll in wherever your dll folder is, or into the sdr folder dll location. Probably the sdr folder location, as the sdr program would look for and call it up from it's known location. I believe the sdr software may not install the dll to your main c drive dll folder location, but uses it's own folder for sdr dll's.
If I update the sdr software successfully, I'll post how I did it to this thread if someone hasn't already solved your problem.

Got one, but...

Using a Mac Mini (late 2011 model) with mixed results.

GQRX:
- Works fine, but max sample rate is 2400000. Somewhat limited feature set.
CocoaRadio:
- Works fine, but limited feature set.
CuteSDR:
- No luck. Requires connection to IP server, son the SDR-XX Server app is required; said app won't recognize the USB dongle, despite numerous attempts. When connecting to the BorIP Server app in a Windows virtual machine, it connects but almost immediately crashes due to a kernel error. Same goes for rtl_tcp running under Terminal on the Mac.
SdrDX:
- This is a much more feature-rich port of CuteSDR, and the results are the same, which is to say none other than an ignominious crash.
HDSDR OSX:
- Build issues with this Winebottler port of HDSDR cause it to not recognize the device.

When running the various WIndows ports of the above and others on a Windows virtual machine:

GQRX:
- Haven't tried yet.
CocoaRadio:
- N/A
CuteSDR:
- Connects to the BorIP server, then immediately drops the connection. BorIP shows it still connected until CuteSDR is closed. Ditto for rtl_tcp in the Mac terminal.
SdrDX:
- Same as CuteSDR.
HDSDR:
- After installing with these instructions works OK. Meh. Needs better bandwidth for FM broadcast reception.
SDR Sharp:
Seems to work OK when connecting to the BorIP server instance, but connecting directly to the device is hit or miss. Seems to work OK, but like HDSDR needs better bandwidth for FM broadcast.

SdrDx looks like one heck of an app with a feature set to satisfy just about anyone, but without being able to connect to it there's no way to give it a whirl. I know the server is working since I'm able to connect to it with other apps, the SdrDX (and CuteSDR) both seem not to like anything other than the SDR-XX Server apps found at the SdrDx site... which don't recognize the device.

Results for all are much the same on a 2006 Macbook, with the exception being that some of the apps built for the Mac won't run on a machine that old.

While I'm perfectly able to compile any number of apps out there for the Mac from available source code, I'm trying to avoid spending hours doing that. Life's too short.

Fun little device just the same, and I think my next project will be to get a few parts out of Ye Olde Junkbox and build a 100 MHz upconverter so I can look at the HF spectrum.

So can SDR Sharp and one of these dongles be used to listen to digital 700mhz P25 then?

With DSDforWin decoding yes. You'll need 2 dongles to do trunking.

And a computer with plenty of horsepower. I run a Quadcore 2.5GHz and 8 gig of ram and have no problems with decoding P25 here although I've never tried trunking as I only have one dongle.

I purchased this item from Amazon Amazon.com: USB DVB-T Digital TV Stick Tuner Receiver Recorder Adapter Dongle Realtek RTL2832U Elonics E4000 FREEVIEW (White) + Antenna, Time-Shifting, Schedule Recording, DVB, HDTV, MPEG P160 P335: Electronics because of its particular antenna connector. The seller sent me the wrong one. What was sent was one of the micro-sized dvb-t dongles with the smaller connector. I believe it is an mcx or pal connector. It definitely isn't one of the more common connectors. I have had a lot of trouble finding and adapter though found one on eBay and am waiting for it to arrive. Funny thing is is that I purchased a different one earlier with the R820t tuner and that one came with this smaller connector. I purchased this new one to get one with the larger connector. Now I have two!
