LODI The Ohio Highway Patrol has lost one of its own today.
Trooper Jack R. Holland, Jr., a salvage inspector for the Massillon Regional District, died from a severe reaction to a bee sting, the patrol said.
Holland was conducting salvage inspections at the Seville CDL facility. After returning to his desk, he was stung by a yellow jacket around 1 p.m. and was taken to a Lodi hospital. He was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m.
“This is a tragic loss for the patrol family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Holland’s family and friends,” said Col. Richard H. Collins, patrol superintendent.
Holland, a 19-year veteran, is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and children, Sabrina, 14, Alexis, 10, and John 8.
